Getting up in the morning and then going to the office is a task in itself. It is one of the most annoying things modern humans have to conform to. We must align ourselves with the new world that demands we earn to sustain a respectable livelihood.

However, with all of the perks that come with a job, some things just don’t change. A little traffic and a missed alarm can cause a human to get to the office a little late. This affects productivity and does not leave a good impression on the employer. Someone who is a little clumsy with their time should follow a few rules to ensure they are getting to work on time every day.

Prepare Today

Start preparing for the next day today. Don’t put everything on tomorrow, and make sure that you are ready for the next day, the night before. Once you have everything aligned, the morning won’t be as hectic, and getting out the door will be a lot quicker and easier.

You should also remember that you can not cram a two-hour routine into 30 mins and expect a good result. The only things that should be left to the morning are things that need morning attention, things like brushing your teeth or getting a quick shower. Ironing your outfit for the next day and putting together your office bag and supplies should always be done the night before.

Change Your Night Time Routine

Do not spend hours on your phone until you’re late to bed. Make sure that you time yourself when you’re on your phone. A good way to check your timings is to put an alarm on your phone. You will be vigilant of the time you spend using it.

Another great way to get a good amount of sleep is to set an 8-hour clock on your phone. If you are an iPhone user, you can turn on the bedtime option. It tracks your routine and tells you to go to bed at the proper time to get a full 8-hour sleep. It will tell you to sleep almost 30 mins beforehand, so you have time to fulfill with your nighttime routine.

Have Breakfast At Home

Stop wasting your money and time on a breakfast burrito and start making breakfast at home. Do not stop at convenience shops every day. You should know how to make breakfast for yourself. This will be a lot healthier and easier for you if you choose to opt for midnight oats or quick-boiled eggs in the morning.

An example of a self-sufficient office routine is mentioned in the book Shanghai Sun; The Curse Of The General. The main character is extremely efficient when it comes to getting up in the morning. He makes sure he wakes up early and has an excellent cup of coffee at home. He then leaves for work early and is always a few minutes early to work. The book is great for those who admire ancient curses and Chinese culture. It’s a great mix of the modern world and a generational curse that is now affecting a common American.
