Based on the first announced freebie, PlayStation Plus' free game selections for next month are already looking promising.

If Sony follows its normal pattern, we'll find out what free games will be available through PlayStation Plus' Essential tier in August tomorrow. Subscribers have already begun anticipating what games could be coming our way, and they have some very high hopes - many people believe we could be seeing gems like Hades, Marvel's Spider-Man, and Cyberpunk 2077, and it's safe to say that if we receive any of them, it'll be an incredible month. Nevertheless, none of it is confirmed, so don't get your hopes up.

But, one fantastic turn-based RPG has been confirmed to be releasing on PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium next month. I'm talking about Sea of Stars, a gorgeous pixel art adventure from Sabotage Studio that follows the story of "two Solstice Children who will combine the powers of the sun and moon to perform Eclipse Magic, the only force capable of fending off the monstrous creations of the evil alchemist known as The Fleshmancer."

The PlayStation Blog confirmed Sea of Stars' launch on PS Plus. Philippe Dionne, level designer at Sabotage Studio, commented, "We're really thrilled to reveal that Sea of Stars will be joining the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog (accessible to all Extra and Premium members) on launch day, August 29." It's exciting to think of how many more players will see Sea of Stars and join the conversation about our project.

"After working on this game that means so much to us for five years, we're now only a few weeks away from release, and we're excited to share this moment with the PlayStation community."

Also, Sea of Stars will be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one, meaning both competitor subscription services will have access to it. A demo is also accessible right now on Steam and PlayStation 4/5.
