I believe exactly the same. I've been on disability for two years now, and with no car for all that time. Here is actually the first Animal Crossing game that I've ever felt as though I am just entirely out of things to Animal Crossing Bells do. Not one of the villagers have anything new to say, and that I haven't seen any new items (besides seasonal things ) in months.

In terms of memorials, I think it would definitely be best to restrict them somehow.
