According to the BBC Money Box programme, some umbrella companies, including those approved and registered by the Freelancer and Contractor Services Association (FCSA), are mistreating contractors. The show featured claims made by "Steve," an unnamed contractor whose words were read aloud by an actor. Furthermore, "Steve" claimed that the recruitment agency only provided him with the name of one umbrella company and did not provide him with a list of preferred suppliers from which to choose.
